UPDATE: Missing 12-year-old Alcolu girl located, safe

UPDATE: (2/26, 11:15 p.m.) Missing Alcolu girl located

The 12-year-old Alcolu girl missing since Saturday morning has been located in Myrtle Beach.

Clarendon County Sheriff Tim Buxley told The Manning Times late Sunday night that McKayla Ward had been located in the Myrtle Beach area, and was safe.

Both deputies with the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office and offices with the Myrtle Beach Police were with the girl, Buxley told the Times. 

No more information as to how the girl ended up in the coastal town, or whether charges were forthcoming, were provided.

Original Post: (2/26, 4:00 p.m.) Deputies with the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office are actively searching for a 12-year-old Alcolu girl that has been missing since Saturday morning.

Initially reported by the Manning Times, 12-year-old McKayla Ward was last seen at her home by family and friends around 10 a.m. Saturday.  According to Clarendon County Sheriff Tim Baxley, authorities are not sure where she was headed or in which direction she was travelling.
